    Incision Infection in Spayed Dog
My doxie-terrier pups were spade on Monday and have for the most part been recovering normally. Abby pulled out a couple of stitches Tuesday night, but the vet didn't seem overly concerned about it and assured us that her incision would heal normally. He also gave us Elizabethan collars for both dogs, and I've kept them separated since I brought them home so they can't pull at each others' stitches.

My concern is that Abby's incision looks worse today than it did yesterday. A lot of dried blood has accumulated where her missing stitches were. Also, because I have another recovering dog to compare her to, I worry that her incision is headed for infection because it looks so much worse than Mattie's. Are there any signs I should look out for? She's eating and drinking normally and doesn't seem to be in any pain, but she's a small dog (8 lbs) and I worry that if she got an infection it could spread quite rapidly. Does anyone have any advice?

I think swelling around the incision is a bad sign. Be careful not to let a problem go into the weekend.
