    H1B status after married green card holder
    My H1B visa will expire in 2010. I plan to marry with 2-year-green card holder. Will I get green card too? How long does it take? And if I quit my job after I married, am I still legel to stay in US? Can I go out of US and come back? Give me some advise pleassssssse

    Adjustment of status for the one who married a greencard holder takes approx 5-6 years, and you won't get any benefit such as getting work permit or SSN during this waiting period, unlike married to US citizen. If your husband is a US citizen, the process takes around 6-8 months.

    The best choice for you is to maintain H1-B and if possible, obtain greencard from this H1-B if your employer is willing to sponsor you.
