Blower not shutting off, heat comes on while in off position
    Hi there,
The blower motor will not shut off unless done at the breaker. It will stay on even in "auto" position and when heat is not on. What's really weird is that last night even though the unit was in "off" position the heat actually come on during the night to the tempature that was set... This is a bryant heat pump. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
    Thanks!!
    Walt

Either the thermostat or the control board could be bad. Could even be a stray strand of wire where the thermostat wires connect. I think the blower and heat are controlled by green and white wires connected to G and W terminals. If disconnecting them stops the problem, it is the thermostat or wiring. To make sure, disconnect the red wire from the R terminal at the air handler. If the blower and heat still come on, the problem is in the control board. The best fix is a new one. You can gamble and replace it, or pay a technician another $100 to check and replace it for you. Hard choice. Maybe you will be lucky and it is the thermostat or wiring. If you have more questions after checking, post back.
