Vague recollection of a movie from maybe the 80's
I am looking for the title of a movie were 2 professors use some sort of bio or sleep chamber to conduct experiments. While in the chamber it takes him back to mans beginning, he sees primal man and one seems to come back with him. Later he goes further back and sees the beginning of the universe. I know this is very vague but it is all I can remember except that after one of the experiments he wakes up in bed and wonders down the hallway while his body distorts and his skin cracks open and there is what looks like lava coming through
