    Cal Allergies
    Hello:

My cat has a problem with her eyelids. They're swollen and they itch. She's been to the vet twice. She got antibiotics and a steroid shot. It went away, but came back. He referred me to an allergy specialist. I didn't go yet. They're expensive...

I changed her food, but not much else. She's healthy otherwise. She's indoor/outdoor and up to date on her flea stuff.

    Ideas?

Has your kitty been checked for feline leukemia as the eyelid symptom is one of the telltales of this disease?

I'm tempted to say that she might be allergic to you... but I'm sure that's not the case..!

Have you successfully eliminated everything new that's been around her that could cause such problems such as new cat litter brand, etc?

    Hi twink:

I don't know. She was at the vets TWICE for this ailment. I can't remember if he said anything about that. Hopefully, HE knew what he was doing.

Nope. Me and my kitty are tight. She DOES bite me, now and then, but I'm sure I deserve it.

Thought about this eye problem. I have a lot of feral cats outside my home that end up eating the coonie food I leave out for the coonies and possums. None of those kittys have eye problems (!) Makes me wonder what is causing an indoor pampered kitty's eye to have problems.

If she does bite you, bite her back. Teach her a lesson! But you just might end up needing a few dozen stiches in your face though,

Call and ask the vet tech if it is marked down on her chart about the feline leukemia. Pssst I don't forsee any HIPAA laws being broken here, Exie, so you'll be safe in calling and asking as your kitty won't know you were told this information and breach her confidentiality with the doc or the tech.

    Hi twink:

I changed her food and I think she's getting better. Could it be that easy? Thanks for asking. Happy Easter.
