I have a similar problem to one posted by another user and I can't seem to find the answer to their question at this website. Perhaps it hasn't been answered yet. Background: The dryer was purchased new in Jan 2006 and has had very light use. It's used in a weekend home we only visit a few days a month. My trouble started with the "Clean Lint Filter" light coming on, even when the filter was clean. Now the problem has escalated. When the dryer is started, it runs for a split second, then shuts off. All lights in the right most column flash, along with the "Start" light and the dryer will not run at all. There are no diagrams of the lights in the owner's manual, nor a list of what it means when they all flash. If you press the "Cancel/Pause" button, you can repeat this process, but it will not stay running. Any suggestions?

If you open the back of the dryer from the vent there will be an envelope taped to the inside wall. It contains the diagnostic messages and procedures to run diagnostics. I have a similar problem but mine is a model 417.84152500 which is just a 1 instead of 2 for the 3rd# after the decimal. It's the same dryer but a different color. Go to Welcome to the Parts Store and enter your model # and you can get wiring diagrams and parts listings. Between the sears.com site and service manual you may be able to figure it out. I've done all the procedures but mine simply won't get hot. I'm never buying appliances from sears again. I don't know what I was thinking.
