    The internet might not be very helpful but here's a good hint: a lot of nautical terms in English come from Norse or Old Norse.
    I suppose you could do a search on 'Norwegian language'; maybe some of Norway's tourist info sites would have something about Norway's historical influence and the influence the merchants, vikings etc had on present day English language.
