    That is actually a good question that not many people consider. The proper terminology is 'in heat' and I don't think it matters if she is when being spayed.

    It's best to ask a vet. I don't think it would make a difference though.

    It's good that you're doing this, it will prolong her life and avoid any unwanted pregnancies.

    Our vet said it's best to wait, it's only two weeks. I can see letting the hormones restabilize, but ask yours.

    It's fine, but it may be more expensive and some vets won't do it. The blood vessels are engorged so there is a lot more bleeding, and the incision tends to 'ooze' a bit.

    The extra charge is worth it.
    Like Sariss said they do tend to bleed more during surgery which is why the vets charge more - it's a more difficult operation but with a good experienced vet you should have no problem.

    Yeah, and the terms are 'in heat' or 'in season'
