It's done better and lasts longer.

Is there? There is an assumption and it can vary a lot by culture. In some at that age people consider their self old and not doing those things. In other cultures once a women is out of child bearing years, she would stop having sex.

For some men, they will start having issues at that age.

I believe its all about maturity.....as WG alluded to, it lasts longer mainly, I think, because each partner is more concerned about their partner's happiness and not their own....just a lot less SELFISHNESS once you reach up and past 55.....when you're young, like the "Generation" says, it is me. me, me, me! That "all about me" feeling tends to fade with age and you become more giving and, perhaps, in some ways, more loving.

Real simple. mature people know what they are doing, and what their partner wants. It's not about lust, but love!
