Is there a difference in the dna of early man and modern man?

I don't think they can extract DNA from bone, only tissue, hair nails, etc. So far, all we have are bone fragments. Until such time that we find hair and/or tissue attached to bone, which is unlikely given the time span, there is no way of knowing if the DNA matches.
