    Tasmania in early September
Hi there ~ my boyfriend and I are going Tassie in early September for a 5 day holiday. Whereas he lived in Tasmania for a couple of years so knows it well, I've never been before :)))

I'm really excited and wondered if anyone knows of any special places of interest or things to do in Tassie that are a little unusual (not so well known) and not too expensive. Apart from Hobart, Strahan for a Gordon River Cruise, Cradle Mountain, Mt Field National Park, Bothwell, Launceston, Derby, St Mary's, Bicheno and Port Arthur that he's thought about putting on our itinerary, he's asked if there are any places I'd like to go.

If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

    Thanks :)

    Have you been to Tassie?

I read you're from Sydney... which is where I'm from originally. Terrific thread on dealing with relationships by the way. Nicely said.

I have but only once , went to Hobart for a conference so didn't really get to see that much. The pubs and the Casino as you do :)

I grew up in the suburbs of Liverpool where ex-servicemen raised their kids (and kids looked after themselves), and left there at 15 ~ not nearly as bad as everyone makes out. In fact, our street was full of kids and we had a lot of fun. The language spoken there was probably a bit more colourful than other parts of Sydney; my mum later moved to Seaforth (big jump in real estate prices) and I settled in Manly in my twenties. Loved it there, especially the harbour.

I've been in Canberra since 2000, so only see the harbour occasionally these days. What about you? Whereabouts in Sydney are you?

WOW small world , I'm about 5km's north of where your mother settled. Grew up in Manly as a kid.

You're kidding... sure is! I lived in Fairlight Crescent for a while and another place that I think from memory is Thomas Street (ugh! Old age). Up a steep climb from the big stone church. I would have loved to have grown up in Manly ~ must have been great.

Doesn't Waterfall Bluff sound magnificent Firmbeliever. I'm intrigued by fossils ~ wouldn't it be amazing to find an ancient creature's mark left in rock. I'll definitely put it on the table for consideration. Thanks :)
