Help me. 80's animated show/movie about two dogs that travel by space shuttle
 I remember this cartoon from when I was a kid about these two dogs that traveled by space shuttle at night. I remember the opening for it a little and it was of a log cabin in the middle of the woods and this space shuttle that would hover over the cabin to pick up the dogs. The dogs were a father and son pair of which only the father could speak. They traveled to a different world or something and had friends there. One of their friends was the daughter of a military leader who always appeared to be after the puppy. The daughter of the military leader was in love with someone that her father despised. Her father also liked cigars and had this evil pet that laughed kind of like Muttle from Dasterdly and Muttly. Can anyone help me with any information about this?

This is a bit of a stretch, but since no one else has answered you, I'd thought I'd mention it in the off chance that this is the show you're thinking of...

It sounds a bit like "The Raccoons" which was a Canadian animated show that ran from 1985-1992. I remember that there was both a talking and a non-talking sheep dog in the show, who came from the "regular" world in some kind of flying machine, into the world of the raccoons. And there was an evil father... his name was Cedric Sneer (he was an Aardvark actually), he had a funny bent nose and a cigar hanging out of his mouth. It was shown on CBC in Canada and I think on the Disney Channel in the US.

If you want to read more about it, try the IMdB:

    Thank you so much
Thank you so much orange. As soon as you named the father I knew it was the right show. I wasn't sure if it was show or a movie but it all makes sense now. The video tape was a recording that my grandfather had made for us back during that time frame and I remember he used to send us tapes because my family is military and we happened to be stationed in europe at that time. I had no idea what the name of the show was but with your description it all seemed to come back to me. Thank you ever so much

You're very welcome! I'm glad it's the right show. Actually it was a very intelligent cartoon that always had a good environmental message. Probably the best Canadian animated series. Too bad it's not on DVD.
