IRS will not pay my Tax Refund Owing to me
    Good Day.

I filed taxes back in February Electronicall... and was told it had already been done.

Spoke to the IRS, who told us to Send in the Paperwork, we did.
Then they told us that the SS was filed by someone else.
At the time we filed a Police Report / Identify Theft and also informed all Credit Beauro's
The person has not used any of my Credit, just the SS on this tax return.. and he filed Single also...
So I had to go to SS and get a verification letter, take it to the local IRS office who confirmed I was who I am and said please wait 3-6 months.

We just spoke to IRS who said yes they have sent a letter to the other person who filed and they have not responded.

We asked well what do we do? The answer was the IRS cannot help since they don't know what procedures to follow once the other person does not respond.
We asked How do we file next year also? There said we should just try and see if we get our money.

Can anyone help, we are owed money and this other perosn got our stimulus checks also.

You need to go to the police and follow-up. This person committed fraud by cashing your stimulus check. The police need to see if they can find this person and arrest them.

Hi ScottGem, I would love to... the IRS did let out that this person was in a different State but since I don't know his name or Address the Police can't help.

Yes they can. They can subpeona the IRS records. You need to keep after them.

It the police or local prosecutor won't do this, then you may need to get your own attorney to do it.

You said you files a police report so you follow up on that report with your local police. Once they get the info from the IRS, they will contact the police where this person lives to arrest and extradict.
