    Tunnel Adapter Local Area Connection*
    Hi,

I have been unable to connect to the internet in one of my laptops from the past two days. I have tried several things to fix it. Unpluging the internet router, ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew etc etc.

When I do ipconfig in command prompt I am getting this:

    Quote:

I have no idea what the tunnel adapter is so I was not able to fix the problem. I tried to Google out a solution but cannot find any particual information.

I would appreciate it if anyone can help me out resolve this problem

Thanks a lot for your help

Set a static address within the range of the router. Something along the lines of 192.168.x.x.
Also check the DHCP settings on the router as it doesn't appear to be giving an address hence the 169.254.x.x unroutable one.

Which one should I try in. Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) or Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

I believe it should be Internet Protocol Version 4

    Yep that's a v4 format IP.

Also, worth checking the actual connection to your router as the encryption key on the wireless may be incorrect.

I think that Curlyben has hit the answer. When you get the 169. Address, it is because there is no connectivity.

When you get no connectivity on your wireless adapter but it says you are getting a good signal, then it is not making the full connection and it is likely because the security information is incorrect.

Also, if you have nearby neighbors with wireless routers or access points, then change your channel on your wireless adapter to one that is not a default (usually channel 6 is default). Select something on either end of your channel list. This will help prevent the continuous drops in your wireless connection because you and your neighbors hardware will not be interfering with each other on the same or almost the same channels.

I can see a lot of wireless connection when I try to connect to my router. How do I change my channel on wireless adapter to one that is not default?

I am going to renew my DHCP and see how that goes.

You need to log into your router and ensure DHCP in enabled, that should be enough.

its is enabled. But I cannot connect to the internet through my router. I can connect my computer to the rounter and it says I got a good signal but it is not getting connected with the internet.

when I check the view status I see

    IPv4 Connectivity = Local
    IPv6 Connectivity = Limited
    Media State = Enabled
    SSID = dlink
