    Checking the correct box
I filled out itins for my family with my income taxes, but only my wife and I got ours, our children's were rejected. I checked box H. other and filled in Depedent of someone filing income tax. What boxes do I actually check. I also said I didn't file an exception no.

I think you are talking about the W-7 form to apply for an ITIN.

You should have selected "d. Dependent of U.S. citizen/resident alien" for your child who you are claiming as a dependent on your tax return.

Yes, it was for a W7, but I am not a legal resident alien, so "D" wouldn't be correct would it?

"resident alien" meaning resident alien for tax purposes (e.g. someone passing the Substantial Presence Test would be a resident alien). Only resident aliens can claim dependents, so if you are to claim your child as a dependent, you must be a resident alien. Also, you said you and your wife got ITINs to file taxes, but only resident aliens can file jointly, so if you guys filed jointly, you must be resident aliens.
