    Kentucky Divorce pro se
My boyfriend is in jail and wants to file for divorce. He can't afford an attorney so I'm trying to help him out by doing it for him. His wife wants the divorce also, but she isn't willing to help pay any of the costs. They have no children or marital assets/debts and have been separated almost 7 years.

The Court Clerk couldn't give me any information and I have no idea where to start. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

    Thanks
    SJ

How to Divorce in Kentucky: 7 Steps - wikiHow

When I divorced in MA 20 years ago, there were no forms to fill out, and I just borrowed someone else's divorce papers and changed the names, and paid the $100. It looks your friend will have many forms to fill out, but only a $113 fee, and a lot of it online, so not bad!

As long as both parties are in agreement, this should not be expensive and just a matter of filling out the forms.

    I'm feeling post-empted a lot lately.

Thank you for the link. I found an interactive self help tool at Homepage | Legal Aid Network of Kentucky. I also found out that if someone can't afford to pay the filing fee they can file a motion to proceed without paying court costs. Thanks again.

Out of curiosity, why does a jail inmate think he needs a divorce right now?
    • Does he wish to marry the OP while in jail?
    • Is he afraid his wife will get herself pregnant and that he will be required to pay child support?
