    Dual Zone Heating
I have forced hot air dual zone heating at my home. When I set the temperature at 70 in the first floor.. The fan is also blowing in my 2nd floor and the temperature increases in the 2nd floor to 70. Where as the thermostat in the second floor is set to 62.

I looked at the furnace and saw a light near the 2nd zone saying closed.

When I set the temperature in the second floor to 70 and set the first floor temperature to 62. It looks like only the 2nd floor is being heated and the light on the furnace to the 2nd zone say Open.

Is this common or is there something wrong with the furnace.. We had our house built 2 years ago.. So the furnace and the other things are new.

    Thanks

Sounds as if the second floor damper is not getting signal to close. Each operation of the damper needs a control voltage to open and close, and seems there is a switch or relay not closing contact. This may be hard to find as it sounds as if you have a master control panel.

Best you can do is to trace the wiring from the damper motor, here you should find three wires, usually back red white, either the black or red may be for open or close. Once you trace back to a relay or switch, test the relay for coil voltage to make it operate, and test the continuity of each contact.

One contact is to close the damper, the other to open.
