    Strokes in old cats
My cat is 17yrs old and it recently came to light that she has hyperthyriodism and was given tablets for it.After 21 days on the tablets she had a stroke that was one week ago.She is on blood pressure tablets and steriod tablets now but she finds it difficult to stand and get up and down on the bed/chair and tends to stagger/fall quite often.Should I have her put to sleep or is it worth waiting to see if she will recover. If I wait what sort of time would be required before I would see any improvement if at all possible.

No one on here is a vet. We do have a vet tech that gets online. I think that you should talk with your vet at length, about what to expect. Make a list of what you need him to answer for you, so that you do not forget when you speak to him. If you feel that you must wait to see if the meds kick in, do so, that way you know that you did everything to prolong her life. 17 is a pretty good life for a cat, You must be a good pet owner. As for putting your cat to sleep. I would decide based on what her quality of life was. I know it is hard , but you do not want to see her in constant agony. I will be hoping for the best for you and your cat.
