I'd love to know the name of this film: I used to watch it as a kid, so it would have been in the mid- or late- 80's. I don't know if it was a made-for-HBO movie, or just one of the films they'd show over and over again, but it seemed to be set in medieval times -- there was a labyrnthian, walled-in city of freaks -- they were maybe imprisoned or cursed or this was a city of exiles or criminals or lepers or something horrifying like that -- really morbidly fascinating make up / effects. There is of course a hero-protagonist, and a manhunt on horseback, probably crossbows, and I don't remember much else.

I think the film your after is 'Gymkata'

Gymnastic dude is recruited to participate in 'The Game' on some island. Here he has a race with challenges, the route pointed out by flag wielding ninjas. The last challenge (which is why io think you mean this film) is through the city of crazies. Here all the mental people and criminals are sent, there is a scene where he takes on about 30 people on one of those gymnastic horses. There are crossbows, and Richard Norton (the bad guy) travels on horse back making sure there is no cheating.

Anyway, it's hard to get hold of as it was never released in Uk, eBay has a few.
