Dishwasher quick rinse keeps blinking what does this mean? Can't turn it off.:confused:

I experienced similar symptoms with our 6 year old Kenmore 665.15879 dishwasher. I was first led to believe by the Sears Part 'expert' that the blinking Quick Rinse indicator was caused by the burnt out Heater Element which, since this was the 4th heater element that had burned out, might be related to the Thermistor. So, I ordered both the Heater Element and Thermistor, installed them, wah-lah, Quick Rinse light still blinking.
I even turned off the circuit breaker for over an hour hoping it would clear itself. No such luck. After pouring over Consumer Reports for an inexpensive replacement and finding my appliance-replacement account with insufficient funds, I decided to do a deep dive into the Control Panel.
The Control Panel comes off simply with 6 screws and is built better than a Toyota. I made a simple diagram to refer to for reassembly and removed all the removable connectors thus freeing the 'Console Assembly' I discovered two manufactured holes in the console asm. Which I GENTLY blew compressed dry air through. This slightly inflated the front panel. I emphasize GENTLY because a more vigorous blow could rip the flexible keypad cover from the front panel.
This seems to have worked. Evidently, one or more of the buttons was stuck or shorted from acculumated moisture. After reassembly (using my diagram as a guide), turning the circuit breaker back on, the Quick Rinse light was no longer blinking.. I pressed Cancel; the dishwasher actually went through its 2 minute cancel cycle; I bravely pressed Start; the dishwasher commenced the wash cycle; I remembered to turn back on the water, restarted the wash cycle, after seeing it was actually going to work, put the soiled dishes back in; and, Yeah, the dishwasher ! Washed the Dishes!
Bottom Line: if after keying the prescribed unlock sequences and nothing else is apparently disconnected or malfunctioning, suspect the 'Console Assembly'. Last check, replacement costs over $140. So, I'd recommend trying the compressed air trick before ordering the part from Sears Parts (who, I suspect will not take returns).

Hey, The_Riot_FixIT, thanks so much for your post! I have a 7 year old Kenmore 665 dishwasher, and started experiencing random problems with various buttons flashing and/or freezing. I tried several solutions with no success, but then ran across your post... which did the trick!

In case others with similar issues run across this post, let me offer some additional advice. You shouldn't need to to remove all the electrical connections, I tried that before this solution but it didn't make any difference. Once you take off the inside cover and the plastic over the electronics, just remove the two screws holding down the circuit board, pull it to the side, then blow plenty of air through the two holes on either side. I used my air compressor, making sure not to blow too hard and break anything. I spent a couple of minutes blowing plenty of air to make sure that no moisture would be left behind.

Anyway, that's my story. I put things back together, fired up the AC, and she's running as good as new... at least for now.

I had the exact problem. Took circuit board off and blew it off with my air compressor like the two above mentioned and put it back together. Yes it seems to simple but hey it worked ans saved me monet and got the wife off my back.

Hi Guys, I'm having the same problem. Quick rinse flashing light. I've taken everything apart but am not sure which two holes you are talking about to flow air through. I really don't see any holes. Can you guide me a little bit?

I also had the same problem, and this worked perfectly. Washing the backload of dishes now. To clarify one thing, the holes that you need to blow air into are not on the circuit board, but on the plastic underneath the circuit board that covers the front control panel. This is where the buildup occurs.

They wanted $129 and take a week to get here.After reading you guyzez entries alls I did was blow air into the vent on the front of the dishwasher it almost immediately showed the number 78 in the window which I guess is the function countdown for a cycle. It's working again.

Thank you so much for all these posts! We have a Kenmore 16533 model and same thing happened. Quick rinse light flashing and no response from any other buttons. I was dreading calling Sears. Our model was so easy to take apart, 6 screws on the outside to get the cover off and inside there were only tabs holding everything together. (Even had arrows to show you where the tabs are) One hole wasn't even covered by the control panel, but the other one was. Just unhooked the tabs and moved the control panel over a little and blew compressed air in. Put it back together and the cycle buttons worked but not the start button. We took it apart again and just blew more air over the start button side and WAH-LAH! It is washing our dishes as we speak. It took us about 30 min from start to finish. Took longer to get the air compressor and drill out than to actually fix it! Thanks for taking the time to post your solutions!!

I just tried this with my Kenmore 665.74369k2 which was giving me the dreaded blinking quick rinse light. 6 screws, some office depot canned air duster and 20 minutes later it was back to normal. I have run 2 loads and NO issues. (fingers crossed). Same problem with me. I tried your solution but it didn't work for me. I do however think it was moisture and humidity that caused my problem. I think your solution is a good one, but for me it was too little too late. Guess it's new dishwasher time. Damn!

I had the same problem. Unfortunately your solution didn't fix it. I tried it twice and really gave the thing a good blow job the second time. Although I do believe you are correct in the cause of it, which is moisture and humidity. I also believe your solution is a good one. But for me it was too late. Looks like I'm either buying the front panel, or getting a new diswasher. :(

Thank you Mr. Riot Fixit. I did the compressed air routine and this solved the problem just as you indicated. I know it sounds odd but in retrospect it makes sense. The air either dries of condensation or blows any stray particle that might be preventing a touch key from working. Thank you again. You saved some landfill having to eat another Kenmore dishwasher. There was no way I was going to spend $371 for a new keypad/door panel.

My concern with the unit was:
While the unit is was off (door closed) the drain pump started running and the LED's for quick rinse,washing,drying,sanatized,clean and 6 hour delay all flash repeatedly at the same time. After 1 min the pump would stop running but the LED's continue to flash.. I powered the unit down for 24 hrs and after turning the power back on the issue repeated with in 5 minutes. I tried the reset procedure but none of the buttons seemrf to be responding.

It took me a couple of tries with the compressed air ( trying not to over do it) A can of compressed air worked great sprayed it in each of the 2 holes and dishes are washing! Thanks again!

My 15822 has same Quick Rinse light flashing, with unit inoperable. After trying the compressed air fix, when I put it all back together and turned the power back on and pressed any button, the Quick Rinse light went on solid for a few seconds. Then, while trying the key dance, it began flashing again.
I repeated the entire disassembly/compressed air/reassembly process with no luck. I have posted a new question @ https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/applia...le-578240.html. Thanks for your posts!
