Drill bit broke during root canal treatment?
Had 1st stage of root canal treatment, Dentist at end of visit told me drill bit broke and was in tooth but not to worry. 2nd visit had another x-ray so she could see drill bit and she spent visit trying to remove at my cost. She said she could not remove. She gave me 3 options.Pull tooth out ,go ahead with root canal treatment (theres a gap under drill bit so tooth will probably rot and need to come out) or go to specialist to try and have it removed so I can have rest of canal treatment and save the tooth.A specialist is 500 kms away and probably not easy to get into and costly. Can anyone help me and offer advice. I don't know whether this happens or is completley unethical. Please I need Advice-Thanks Angela

I am sorry to hear your situation. Personnaly I feel Either they used cheap equipment,
Defective bit, or improper procedure. If I break a drill bit in someone's mouth, I am responsible. I never had luck with lawyers but, if you know one, ask, or call dental association, their Insurance should handle Problems like this. You didn't do this.
I bet a good dentist could drill side of broken bit and remove.
I would make some calls to any available Dentist.
I am in Electrical and Electronics, I am responsible for my drill.
Good Luck. Hope all goes well.

I can't believe your dentist couldn't remove the bur ("drill bit") that broke. She could complete the root canal and do an "apicoectomy" to remove the part of the root she couldn't access through the canal. She should be responsible for the cost of this treatment if she's a real professional.
