    Green Hair!!
Hi, I've had blonde hair for 5 years and I decided to try dying it to a dark brown - bad idea. I should have not used permanent dye:mad: . At first it looked okay and I started to like it but now its fading to a green hue. I think I want to go back to blonde again. Can I try dying it back to the light blonde I had and try to cover it up, or will it make it light green? I really don't know what to do, and I can't stand it.

Talaniman, your too much.;) B baby, do not add another color on your hair if you have turned it green. Your hair can turned green from colors that have a blue base. Also, women with blonde hair have to be careful because their hair is porous to chlorine. Tap water that contains high levels of copper and the chlorine from pools will turn the hair green. Please wear a swimming cap to protect your hair and make sure that your water at home is purified before you wash your hair. Don't put another color in your hair, it's going to make it worse. Go to your hairstylist and have them fix your hair. The hairstylist will defuse your hair and add a color that suits you.

Shave your head :p, Your hair will grow back. The hair that I do have, if that happened to me, which it did before. All I did was shaved it off.

OK guys, the wig bit is OK for those who can afford an expensive one, but going to a specialist and getting the problem solved to get the hair as close to the natural color as possible is the best bet. Pretty is right - she know what she's talking about. Unfortunately clorine and other chemicals that we are subjected to on a regular basis can damage more than just hair - but shows there first.
Dear, go to a beautician, get this fixed, and after that give your hair a rest for at least a good year. Good Luck.

There are two ways to deal with "green" hair from swimming:

    1) Prevention. My daughter, who has fine, white-blonde hair down to her butt swims competitively year round. ALWAYS! Before she gets into that pool, she thoroughly wets her hair with tap water (soaking wet) and then liberally applies a cheap conditioner (we use Dove from Costco). This goes under her cap. This is every single time.

    2) If, for some reason she DOES get some green in her hair OR just to keep her hair in good condition, we do an aspirin wash. I saw some people advise aspirin w. lemon juice, but the lemon juice is not necessary.

You do an aspirin wash like this:

Buy the cheapest aspirin you can find... uncoated works best and costs the least. Put about 1/4 to 1/3 cup of aspirin tablets in a large container of water. It will dissolve immediately. Put the dissolved aspirin in the hair and work it in. It will be very gritty and astringent. It is quite messy. Work it in well and leave it for about 5 minutes. Remember that aspirin is an acid, so know that it can irritate your child's skin, especially in sensitive areas. We do it in the shower for this reason.

Now wash it out with shampoo. It is very important to completely wash out the aspirin, and it may take 5 or 6 shampooings and rinsing to get this done. The hair will feel very dry and rough. Condition it well with conditioner and rinse very well.

You will not believe how clean and beautiful your child's hair will be after this treatment. It's simply astounding.

One summer league in which she swam, they had a horrible time keeping the copper out of the pool and her hair was green immediately. I tried every singe shampoo and treatment, including the really expensive shampoos, as well as vinegar, lemon juice, ketchup, etc. Nothing worked as well as the aspirin. Also, using my prevention tip has kept it from ever getting that bad again.

    Good luck!
