    compare processors
    Hi there,
I need to compare a pentium 4 3.0 Ghz processor with a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ fx 2.2 ghz processor, which one of these 2 processors is better? Both in terms of performance and value for money. Cause I think the P4 clock speed is higher than the AMD, but still the AMD processor is more expensive. So which one to chose ?

    Thanks

Go to both AMD's and Intel's web sites. You should be able to find bench mark tests that compare the two. Also look for reviews on the two.

The AMD is currently the only 64 bit CPU on the market. When the next version of Windows (which will be 64 bit) comes out, the AMD will be able to run it optimally.

Even though the AMD has a lower clock speed, its other advantages make it at least on a par with faster Pentium 32 bit CPUs.

    Help
I get to test things like this out, in the place where I work, and this is one of the ones I tried.

SO I can give you some 1st hand knowledge, I tested these 2 systems against each other, overall performance differences in speed, is not noticeable enough to matter much, The Amd performed better in certain games and programs and the Pent 4, outperformed in others.

So it comes down to basically price, whichever is cheapest is the way to go, as you will get more bang for the buck from the cheaper of the 2, you could try 50 games and programs and these 2 may split in half the number each wins the race in.

So whichever you like best or the cheapest if money matters most for you.

Both are solid, fast and reliable.

    ;)

Yes I as used AMD athlon 64 3200+ for its speed if we compare to P4 3.0Ghz it's depend on. On what? It's depend on the OS we use because AMD Athlon 64 designed for Windows 64bit, but it still can runs on Windows 32bit too, so if we use it with Windows 32bit it may decrease the speed of CPU and if we us AMD Athlon 64 with Windows 64bit it will decrease speed as P4 3.0Ghz... that all because I tested already (Believe me) Trust in GOD
