What is the longest running movie series, rather than franchise ?

Recently we have had Harry Potter with 7, Saw with 8, Star Wars will be 9 (10 if you include Clone Wars).

Are there any longer running series with the story running through ??

James Bond as 007 comes to mind. 24 movies since 1962

Hopalong Cassidy from what I know had 66.

Maybe the Marvel movies where each superhero has their own introductory movie and sequel(s) . I believe they are up to 2 dozen .Planet of the Apes had a bunch of them . Batman has had a number . Star Trek ,Those slasher teenager movies all had multiple sequels . That said . I thought the record has to go to Godzilla .

But I checked out Hopalong Cassidy and that has 6 more than Godzilla .
