What kind of wear and tear is there on the floor (condition)? How long since it was stripped before?

Is there wear (traffic lines) and are there any heavy soiled or oiled areas?

Companies charges from $0.20cents to $0.75cents per Sq ft. The average is 40cents. Floor being ugly or not is not a point to have a price too high or very low. Extra works like corners and moving stuff around will change the price. And again the number of coats you apply also decides how much to charge, 3, 5 or 7 coats.
The other factor is the price and quality of the wax-varies due to shiny, solid, making some cheap and some more expensive. Distance to the job site too. On your side you consider about number of helpers, hours to spend, time to drive, how heavy is the job especially moving furnitures and do all area in one time or doing in pieces.

Agreed Babalisa, although pricing varies per geographic location and competition.

The condition of the hard floor does matter. If the floor has had many coats applied over a long period without scrubbing or stripping the wax build up could be more than 8 to 1o coats, your stripping takes more time. If the floor has 'yellowed' or if the finish has worn off and the VCT is damaged from ware... more time, more expense and time. And time is money.

And for an example, normal stripping and 4 coats of finish is between $.023 to $0.27 per sq ft in my area. And in the end pricing is always the decision of the OP.

If the floor has very old wax with a lot of coats then this will turn out to be a project and some hard work.

I suggest between $0.35 to $0.50 per square foot. A suggestion only...
