    Endometrial stripe..
    Hi,
I'm 28 years old and have been having very irregular periods. I went this last time for over 3 months without one at all, and then had it for 2 and half months straight. The bleeding was extremely heavy, and very odd. It would suddenly stop completely for a day or more, and then come back out of nowhere extremely heavily again.

I have been having extremely bad cramps.. I saw my PCP who put me on the pill to try and get it under control, and also put me on iron as I was anemic. She then sent me for an ultrasound.. The results were that my endometrial stripe is thicker than it should be, and that I also had a cyst on my left ovary.

I was referred to a gynecologist but my appointment isn't for two weeks. In the meantime the pill has slowed things down to just spotting after 11 days of taking it.. But I am still having extremely bad cramping, and pressure.

I'm wondering if this is something that I should be overly concerned with, and try to get the appointment moved up? Or am I OK to just wait the 2 weeks. Thanks.

There are various reasons why it may be thicker than usual, even when in your menstrual cycle it was evaluated can be a factor. Most reasons are fairly benign, meaning needing to be determined and dealt with, but not life threatening, to uncommon at your age; cancer. If you are concerned about waiting, call your gynecologist's office and explain your concerns. Perhaps an earlier appointment can be made, or they can certainly contact you should someone cancel before your scheduled appointment.

Thank you for your reply.. I saw my gynecologist, and she did a biopsy. She has sent it out, should hear something in the next couple of days. She thinks it may be endometrial cancer. I'm a higher risk for it even at my age as I had lymphoma, and had a lot of radiation exposure to that area. She said the lining is extremely thick, and where I had the ultrasound done at the time when I was just finishing having my menstrual cycle even still bleeding a little she thinks it is cause for concern. Oye.. I have a gut feeling that it won't be that, but we shall see. Thanks again.

Hopefully it won't be the case, but if so, will be treated quickly. Wishing you well!
