Hi, how would you describe this gun in relation to a holster? Choices are: subcompact, compact, medium or large framed? Also it has a laser. I'm trying to get an idea which to order. Thanks

My definitions are ergonomic, rather than by measurement. If you need a magazine extension for your pinky finger to fit the grip, you have a subcompact. If the pinky fits but you can pull the trigger with your thumb you have a compact. A medium fits comfortably in most hands and a large frame has to be gripped with the thumb as well as the fingers.

The sr22 has been described by one reviewer as a "smurf pistol," and the factory box has magazine extensions included, so I would assume the 'subcompact' designation probably fits.

Yes, it is a subcompact, built along the LCP380 lines which I have a dislike because of the frame size and recoil. With a 22 you shouldn't have that much recoil. You need to check with the holster mfgrs. since the laser, if mounted under the frame will typically interfere in holstering unless there is adequate space. If the laser is grip mounted, like the SW Bodyguard, it may fit well.

Thanks brian, the laser is barrel mounted, holster man. Claims laser will fit, I just needed to know how to describe the frame. I was leaning towards subcompact but wanted to hear it from someone else before I order.

The SR22 is not considered a sub compact as it is bigger than the LCP. It is closer to a compact, small frame automatic. The LCP measures out at 5.2" and the SR22 has an overall length of nearly 6.5" which is almost the same as a Walther P99C (it even happens to look very similar to the SR22) which is considered a compact. A holster is going to make a difference on what you need it for and how you want to carry it. It's a .22 so I don't figure you are looking to carry for self defense, although maybe you are. Some people choose to carry .22's for defense.

The first thing is that you have to consider what your going to use it for. If it is for carry or just for general shooting on the property. That is really what is going to determine what holster is your best choice. Also having the laser on it just means you dont want one molded to the barrel / frame of the gun. You will need extra pocket room for the laser.

You can take the pic from the spec sheet (Here's the one with the factory laser: Ruger® SR22® Rimfire Pistol Model 3615 ) and do some measurements before ordering to make sure the holster has room.

Thanks again for all the opinions, Condor tactical makes some adjustable holsters I may just go that way. This is just for general carry/shooting.

Looks good. Just always be aware that the laser is exposed. That way when you clean the gun you can clean the laser too.
