Time needed to finish medical school?
How many years does it takes to study in medical school? And how many years is the internship?

I think it depends somewhat on where you are in the world. My husband just finished his residency as a family doctor. He took a 4-year undergrad degree before applying to the medical college (although I think 2 years of an undergraduate degree is the minimum requirement). Then he spent 4 years in medical school, and 2 years as a resident. Now he is thinking of becoming a psychiatrist, so if he pursues that it will be another 5 years.

So if you want to be a general practitioner, in Canada at least, it seems it takes a minimum of 8 years (including undergrad work), but if you want to be a specialist of some kind, tack on another 5 years.

In the states you can typically plan for 11 years total of college and medical school training. 4 years undergraduate, 4 years medical, and 3 - sometimes more - years in training for a specialization. The more complex the specialization the longer it will take.
