He will be given a date to report to AIT, his training after basic.

There is not "safest" way, At times he may have a slight break between the training other times he will not.
He should know a week or two before the training is over as to his time frame

Well first of all I believe you are asking if he should be active duty or reserve. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Second has he taken the ASVAB? If so what is his score? If he goes into the infantry he will have no real job training to take advantage of after he ETSs(gets out) or retires. If he takes a job such as Medical, Admin, Intelligence, etc.

These type jobs will give him an advantage when he leavs the army. If intellegence he will have a high value clearance to help him with a great govt job after leaving the military. If you want to know more please feel free to contact me.

Hi jon I'm looking to join the infantry and just want to know what training you have to do and is the infantry a good place to be going? I work at the moment in a office and have been here for 9 years and now I feel like a change is due so I'm looking at the army. I want to travel the world and have some excitement in my life.

Hey Jon, just curious, but did that MOS get changed to 35N or is it still 98C?

Ok here's the thing: infantry is a job in the military, reserves is a branch of the military. It's like saying "Should I become a cop or FBI?"
