    Lexmark X5150 black ink
Hello I have recently installed new ink cartridges in my printer however the black does not seem to work and the colour prints fine. As far as I'm aware I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps that I can. Does any anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks

Assuming you did remove the protective tape covering the nozzles, then you may need to coax the ink out a little. Although this is not an officially recognized procedure, I would take a paper towel, dampen it with water, and squeeze out all the water you can. Now fold it until it is about 3-4 inches square. Take the black cartridge and touch it to the paper towel for a couple of seconds. (Touch the rectangular chip to the towel). You should get some ink to flow into the towel. Move to a clean area and do it again. Maybe one more time, depending on how good it is flowing. Now, put it back in the printer and hopefully it will be happy.

    Best of luck,

Have you print the alignment page? Black cartridge won't fire ink if you cancel the attempt of alignment process.
    Steps to perform
    1. removed the black cartridge in the left side
    2. close the cartridge lid & printer lid
    3. while the printer is ON unplug the black brick & keep it unplug for 10 secs
    4. plug the black brick
    5. you will see there message black cartridge missing
    6. insert the cartridge back
    7. close all lids & it will prompt you
Load plain paper & press OK to print alignment page
    8. follow the instruction
    9. if the message is alignment completed
    10. Try to make a copy using the black ink for you to check if the black ink is firing

    Steps to make black copy
    1. load a document on the scanner bed facing down
    2. press the copy mode
    3. press start black button

I have the very same printer and here's what I tried when I had a similar problem. There is an option to print a test page, to try that. Then, make sure you go through the options menu and select the new cartridge option, and then load that. Then, you can try printing a black document with the black cartridge out of the printer, this is also a testing procedure. Sometimes, its the contacts on the new cartridge that are faulty, and that happens sometimes so, you may have to try and use a new cartridge... and then try the steps I've shared here. This happens sometimes cause there are simply faulty cartridges sometimes, and we never plan on that, esp when they are new or close to new or half used. Godspeed and I hope this works for you buddy.
