Why is it difficult for me to get pregnant ?
I got married when I was 28.. its only been 6 months now. I've been trying to get pregnant but to no avail. Last 2 months my period came 8 days late and I thought I was getting pregnant. Bu the pregnancy test kit showed negative. When my menses came as usual I got the most terrible cramps no one can ever imagine. So I headed to see the doc just in case I had an early miscarriage. Then I requested to have an ultrasound scan of my womb.

Result came out and a small fibroid was detected but no miscarriage but I'm not sure if the scan could detect any miscarriage in me as everything was still too early. And another thing was the doc couldn't justify when the fibroid grow in my womb. Was it there all along? No one knew. And the doc didn't give any medication because the fibroid is small about 1.5cm only. And she said its still safe to get pregnant. Of course I trusted her.but I will hv to do a follow up scan to see if the fibroid grow.

Anyway, I would like to seek advise from the experts out here. Is only stress the reason why I can't get pregnant yet? Or is it my age? Or is it I'm petite at 42kg? My sister was petite too but she has no problem getting pregnant. In fact she has given birth to 2 healthy boys.I am really concern as I want to get pregnant asap because me and my husband are obviously getting older. And we don't wnt our the life gap between our child and us too far apart.

We have not done any fertility check but I seriously don't think both of us are not fertile because my parents have 4 children and his parents have 5 children. But again does infertility comes only from genes? Help. Thanks.

I know that with my first it took almost 2 years to conceive. Stress could be a part of why you were late. I know they say that when you stop trying to conceive is when you actually do. Look at how many people think they can't and then adopt only to find out a short time later that they are pregnant. I actually know someone that it has happened to. So stop stressing over it and let it just happen naturally, quit making sex about having a baby and make it fun, relieve some of the stress that comes along with concieving. GOOD LUCK!! :) :)

Infertility is rarely a genetically inherited condition. It could be caused by fallopian tube damage due to infection, male factor (sperm problems of all kinds), hormonal imbalances, ovulation problems, egg quality issues, immune system problems, conditions like endometriosis or simply unexplained meaning they can't find a reason for it.

You should have a blood workup to check for ovulation and hormone imbalances, your husband should have a sperm analysis. These two simple tests will at least eliminate a large number of possibilities.

    Best of luck!

If I have my numbers right you are 92 lbs. Please correct me if I am wrong. I was 95 lbs for years and did not get pregnant until I put on some weight (about 15 lbs.) (I did not gain weight for the purpose of getting pregnant it just happened). I do not know if my weight was the reason I did not get pregnant for years. Some people are very fertile and can get pregnant under any circumstances. Other people have to wait for their body to be ready to conceive. Take prenatal vitamins and eat healthy fresh foods. Limit alcohol and caffeine consumption. It's not all about having sex at right time of month your body must be in the right state. You can read books on preparing your body for pregnancy.

Thanks all for your advices and possible answers to my queries. I have further information now.
Last 2 days(9 june), I experienced a rare squemish discharge with a streak of blood(abt 1cm) and few hours later I had some cramps in the lower abdominal. Something like period cramps but it ended like half an hour later.no whatsoever bleeding after that. I had sex with my husband 3 days before (on 6 june) the weird bleeding and cramps occurred.
I confirmed its not the last of my menses or whatsoever because my last period already ended on 4 June.

Any explanation for this? I understand that ovulation usually take place at least 12 days after the last period.

The cramping, discharge, and bleeding could be from the fibroids, but I am not terribly familiar with them. I would contact your doctor about it and ask him if those are common symptoms.

Go on vacation... head to fl it's in the water down there... lol. j/k. The site is Ovulation Calendar and Ovulation Chart - FertilityFriend.com it has helped a lot of people and hopefully it will help you. Stick around here though cause we always like having new people around.:)

Hi again... I studied my ovulation chart and did have sex with my husband on the days recommended up to last night. My next period will be due on 27th. I am also thinking stress might be the problem and I tried to control it whenever possible and we did our best by doing sex the more pleasurable way rather than thinking of having a baby.

Anyway I would like to ask again. Did anyone of you manage to conceive outside your ovulation period? Let me know you... glad to have found this site.. :)

    Cheers!

It can take a while to get pregnant and on an average from 1-2 years but this also depends on the guy also, men with low sperm count can take a long time to get pregnant. But I can tell you that if you have fibroyd tumors or cysts this can make it harder for you to get pregnant. You definitely need to see a doctor to take care of the fibroyd tumor and to have more tests done, pelvic ulatrasound and more. I had this and I couldn't get pregnant until a few years after trying and after I was well. I also lost weight because weight problems can cause this too. After trying to conceive for a while with no luck consult your doctor because they can run more tests on you and your husband and they can lso give medication to help you conceive. Any problems with your uterus including fibroyd tumors and cysts, etc can really make it extremely difficult to get pregnant. Also since you are already trying to get pregnant buy a pre-natal vitamin this will actually help you conceive because it supplies folic acid for you and the baby and it will also be more safe against mis carriage if you do get pregnant and help the baby to get the vitamins that he/she needs. Not saying that this will prevent a mis carriage but it will certainly help. My doctor put me on pre-natal vitamins when I was trying to conceive or you can buy them from the grocery or health store. Good luck!

Thanks brandy... me and husband will try our luck first maybe for a year before opting for a further medication. As for now I am on folic acid... hehe.. :)

I would start taking prenatal vitamins so that your getting an all around vit instead of just folic acid.

Your welcome! What has your doctor said about the fibroid tumor, do they have to remove it? It would actually help, some tumors if small will shrink and on away on there own but some will not. It can actually be a lot harder to get pregnant with fibroid tumors... I have had them and my cousin had one recently removed, the doctor told her to wait to have it removed because it really didn't need to be but she requested that it be removed anyway. It was removed but there is always the possibility of reacurrance and they do seem to do that. Fibroid tumors, cysts etc can cause other problems as well and the can definitely lead to misscarriages in the womb and since you are trying to get pregnant I would request to have it removed or at least talk to your doctor and explain that you are trying to have a baby and get some advice from him. It really can effect your pregnancy! I just was reading online about it and it really can minimize your chance of getting pregnant a LOT or it can cause pregnancy problems! I don't want to scare you at all but at least get a few opinions first. Fibroid tumors can also cause bleeding in pregnancy and can cause the tumor to grow (please see article below) which is not good either, you should have it removed before trying to conceive and then after you do conceive you will have no worries.. They also cause weight gain too and especcially a growing tumor and I think this is the main reason my cousin had hers removed. Most people that do have fibroid tumors do not find out until after they are pregnant and so you should consider yourself lucky and blessed that you found out ahead of time so that you can do something aobut it! I would expect that any doctor or ob/gyn would tell you to have it removed before hand because after you get pregnant there is nothing that you can do and this can also prevent complications!

Here is a article that I coppied for you:

If you've heard the word "fibroids" before, you may not have linked it together with pregnancy. Pregnancy and fibroids can be some cause for concern, and if you're worried about complications for you and your baby because you have pregnancy and fibroids then find out for yourself if your worries are real. Read the answers to these commonly asked questions about pregnancy and fibroids from women who either are pregnant with fibroids or are concerned they might be.
    What is a fibroid tumor?
A fibroid tumor, also known as leiomyoma or myoma, is a mass of compacted muscle and fibrous tissue that grows on the wall (or sometimes on the outside) of the uterus. It can be as small as a pea or as large as a grapefruit. Fibroid tumors occur in 50 to 80 percent of women.

What are the symptoms of fibroids during pregnancy?

    Heavy vaginal bleeding
    Abdominal pain
    Pelvic pressure
    Frequent urination
    Constipation

Always report abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding to your doctor immediately.

Will a fibroid tumor complicate my pregnancy?
Fibroids usually develop prior to pregnancy, though many women don't know they have one until they have an ultrasound or the fibroid is discovered during a pelvic exam. If you know prior to pregnancy that you have fibroids, ask your doctor whether their size or position could cause problems, and which symptoms to watch for.

Most women who have one or more of these noncancerous growths experience no pregnancy complications because of them. For the 10 to 30 percent of pregnant women with fibroids who do end up having complications, the most common is abdominal pain, which occasionally may be accompanied by light vaginal bleeding. The baby is rarely affected unless the bleeding is substantial.

Can a fibroid tumor harm the baby?
Probably not. Even if you do experience symptoms, they most likely won't affect the baby. However, your risk of miscarriage and premature delivery does increase slightly if you have fibroids. They occasionally cause the baby to be in an abnormal position for delivery. They can also stall labor, or, if they're located in or near the cervical opening, they may block the baby's passage. All of these (rather rare) problems can increase the likelihood of cesarean delivery.

How will a doctor treat fibroid tumors during pregnancy?
Painful fibroids are usually treated with bed rest, ice packs, and — when necessary — medication. Your doctor will recommend the treatment that's safest for you. Symptoms usually subside within a few days.

Fibroids sometimes grow larger during pregnancy, due in part to pregnancy hormones. For reasons that are not well understood, a fibroid may also get smaller during pregnancy. Your doctor may recommend ultrasound examinations to see whether your fibroid is growing or likely to cause complications.

Hey brandy... great info ! I've read some issues on fibroids also and no doubt having some worries myself. And I did ask my doc about the fibroid. But she said mine is very minor not dangerous at all and no need to remove or take any medication. And she aleady told me its totally safe to get pregnant.
The doc has already done the analysis before meeting me. So I guessed if anything goes wrong, I'll get back to her then. But she also mentioned that I need to do follow up scan after a year to see if the fibroid grows or not.

Yes because they can grow and when they do you may or may not notice weight gain.. It would take a lot of worry away to remove it because then you want have to keep worrying about it after it is removed and gone. If it doesn't go away though I would definitely have it removed, no doubt that is what I would do and that is what I recommend.

That's true kt007! Some people say in the middle about 9-13 days afterwards and some say about 13-17 day afterward. It all works out about the same when ovulation is there. This discharge is clear and sticky, can sometimes be white and comes during a few days when ovualtion occurs. For me it is always exactly 10-12 days after my period! You can buy a callender or oculation kit from the drug store to help you figure the dates better if you can't. Pregancy will only occur when a women is ovulating, subject to opinion some people think they can get pregnant any time but I guess it is possible. Also it is best to get pregnant when the sperm count of the male is at it's highest that is when a male has been without sex for a few days it builds up and a week the count builds up even higher. That is why it is not good to have sex every DAY when trying to get pregnant. It is best to have sex every 3 days or every week..

You hear of people all of the time trying for a long time to get pregnant and conceive without luck and they say they have sex everyday, and it is not best to have sex everyday that is why!! It is also easier for younger women to get pregnant than older women most of the time but not always. When a man is also horny there is MORE sperm that he produces as well so I suggest looking nice, wearing perfume and do anything to make your husband want you bad because this DOES help you to get pregnant! I mean you can see if you and your husband is having sex and he is mad at you or he is tired that not much sperm comes out, just look for yourself this is a known fact!

I know a young man who was a virgin and at 22 he lost his virginity, he had sex 1 time and she got pregnant. I think it was because his sperm count was so so high because he was a virgin and also his girlfriend was ovulating so boom she got pregnant instantly, you also hear of people that are raped get pregnant quick also.. Not all the time but it does happen! I think that you can only do so much to try and get pregnant and the best thing to do is just relax and give it time, it will probably happen when you lease expect it. I hope I gave some great advice and hope that you will use it!

Hi there, I'm just curious if you have had a laparoscopy to rule out endometriosis? I understand you have a fibroid but did they see that through an ultrasound or through laparoscopy? My husband and I have been trying for about 15 months and I just had a laparoscopy done to check for endo and it turns out I have endometriosis and it's pretty bad. They got rid of as much as they could and now they will put me on hormone therapy to get rid of any he wasn't able to get. Everyone would always tell me that I'm not getting pregnant because I'm stressing myself out, but that is NOT why. There was an underlying reason all along. My doctor truly believes that it is the endometriosis that was causing the infertility. The one symptom I had was really painful bowel movements during my period (tmi I know) and it totally makes sense now because the endo was sitting right above my bowel. I'm not saying it sounds like you have endo but it was kind of a fluke that I told my doctor about that pain... and he thought it was endo right away. The reason I am telling you this is because I don't want you to think it is your fault or that you are causing your infertility by stressing. When a women is dealing with infertility, it is pretty much impossible not to be a little worried, sad or dissapointed once in awhile. I'm not saying it would be good to completely obsess about it, but don't feel bad if you get upset, sad or anxious from time to time. It's normal!!

I am having the same problem. I have a son that is 13 years old but I have been trying to conceive and nothing. So I went to a doctor and had an hsg to see if my tubes were blocked and they were. So I had laprascopic surgery to get them fixed. Now my tubes are working fine and it has been 6 months and no baby. My doctor put me on prenatal vitamins to help me. I have also read about ovulex. You can get your husbands sperm count tested.

I had found out that tubes being blocked can be a reletivaley common and I have a friend that had this. Actually she was told for a long time that they would not be able to have kids because her husband's sperm count is low because of a accident. They tried for years with no luck! Finally they tried adoption but was not allowed to adopt for some reason, possibly money reasons and they were fairly young at 28 years old but I think thaty they made decent money. Anyway after a long and hard condsideration they finally agreed to invertro... The doctors said it would take up to 3 x and she done this and all three times failed so now they thought that something was wrong with her. She than found out her tubes were blocked after she paid all the money for invitro and then she tried the invitro again and still could not get pregnant. I believe she is 33 now and still doesn't have any kids. I feel so bad for what she is going through, especially spending all that money for nothing at all. Now the doctors have no clue what is wrong with her and they have even gave her medication to help her become pregnant easier but nothing has worked and she has had many tests. If nothing is wrong with her, I don't know why the invitro is not working. I have came to the conclusion that maybe it is not her time to have kids yet because nothing that she has tried has worked for her having kids and her husband's problem is just double horrible. They basically told her after having the surgery for the tubes that she should get pregnant easy then.. After she tried the invitro again they said that the sperm count was very high and she should get pregnant but it didn't happen, I don't know how they call the count like so many million/billion but they said the chance was very good but it did not happen for her. Don't give up and keep trying, try not to worry and please have tests done to see what can be the cause of your problem.
