I had sex on the 1st day of my period and the next day it continued.Am I pregnant?
On the first day of my period, it was very light and I had sex.It didn't stop completely after having sex, but it was even lighter. The next day my period continued normally. Now I still have my period 4 days after, which is normal for me.Is there any chance I can be pregnant, even though my period contnued?

You do realize that pregnancy cannot be detected immediately? If you did ovulate during your period your period wouldn't stop, it wouldn't be until your next period is overdue that pregnancy would be a concern.

The bottom line is that any time you have sex you risk pregnancy. At this point though it's way too early to tell. You'll have to wait until your next period is due.

In the meantime it's time to learn how your body works, how pregnancy happens, and the risks involved in having sex. You are in charge of your body, don't you want to know how it works?

First of all, thanks for responding.Of course I understand that you cannot tell right away. However, I wanted to make sure whether there is a smaller chance of a pregnancy when period continues right after.

Most women don't ovulate during their period, but it can happen. Your period continuing doesn't indicate that pregnancy didn't occur. The sperm doesn't meet egg, fertilize, and implant that quickly. Even if it did, you were on your period, the shedding of your uterine lining would not stop.

This is why I recommended that you read up on your body. Learn how pregnancy occurs, what menstruation is and why it happens. It's very obvious from your posts that you don't know how your body works, and it's important for you to know this if you decide to continue having sex.

    That's not true.

There is a chance that ovulation can occur while a woman is menstruating, so unless the OP (original poster) knows exactly when she ovulated, there is a chance that pregnancy can occur even during her period.

I am informed on all of this. But when it happens to you, you want to know every single possibility, even if it's irrational.I know my body the best that I can.I have an irregular cycle and cysts in my ovary which cause it.

As Alty said, pregnancy will always be a possibility.

While most women will ovulate midcycle, some will do so a bit earlier and some a bit later than the norm. Some will, on occasion, ovulate outside what is the norm for them. It is not common; it is one of the least likely times for you to become pregnant, but it is possible.

Okay, if you are looking for a smaller chance that you did NOT become pregnant, I recommend using some form of protection next time such as a condom or birth control, sorry, I don't mean to sound rude, or ignorant, but as a mother of 2 children already and being pregnant with my 3rd, I know as most of the posters here know, having children and taking care of them is not easy, they do not come with instructions, but they do come with stress, and financial hardships. Back to your question. As most of the people here arleady told you, just because your period didn't stop, does not mean anything, your period will continue to do what your body is trying to accomplish, shed old cells and rid the uterus lining. The reason a woman has a period in the `1st place is for reproduction purposes, you menstruate, an egg is released in hopes that a sperm will fertilize. HOWEVER, MOST, and I say most because it is possible for woman toovulate on their periods, but MOST women ovulate in between 11 and 14 days after their period. So if you started on the 1st of the month, chances are your ovulation date is going to be around the 14th -17th, butyou will be fertile from the 11th-20th... also, sperm can live up to 72 hours inside the body as well. So just because youhad sex on the 9th and you think you are safe because that is not your fertile day, well 72 hours later it can fertilize an egg which would be the 12th, and hey, now you ARE fertile.

Bottom line is, every woman should know how their own body works, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to do some research or even take to your obgyn about how to track your ovulation, and get more intouch with how you work

    >>>>Thank you!So ovulation on the very first day could be possible since my period is irregular..

Possible, but not likely. Ovulation wouldn't have to occur on the first day.

For example: sex on day one... then if you happened to ovulate on say day 6 (again, unlikely but possible), some sperm may be present and can then fertilize the egg. Most will die off within 2-3 days, even in the optimum conditions just prior to ovulation, but it can happen that some may live a bit longer.

You can only get pregnant if you have sex close to when you ovulate as sperm will die off quickly at any other time in your cycle.

Your odds are very small, but there is no 100% safe time from pregnancy when you have sex. Only times that are less, or more, likely than others.
