    Hi Renerabril...

As lousy as this answer is, some tub/shower diverters allow water to flow during the shower... not only a waste of water and money but can make for a less than satisfactory shower experience... ;)

With that being said, as long as the water is not diverted up to the shower head during a tub fill then you shouldn't worry too much here... could be worse, for sure.

If you want, you could remove the diverter, and you could try to find a slightly larger washer and see if replacing the smaller washer (if present) with a larger washer helps.

Care to discuss more? Let me know...

Thanks for your input Mark. The picture of the new diverter which I found on the web shows that this Central Brass diverter should have a small black washer between the sloped part of the stem and the body of the diverter, could this be a problem?

Could be that you have the wrong diverter... certainly could be... ;)

Did you put the old up against the new one or just slip the new diverter spindle in place? If so, take the new one out and compare to the old one even IF you do need to go fishing in the trash for the old one... ;) May solve the riddle for you...
