Hi! I have a problem with the hot water in my house... there isn't any. :eek: We have a tankless system, as opposed to a separate hot water heater.

Over the years, the pressure of our hot water has decreased, now to the point where there is virtually no pressure and no hot water in any of the taps. Water still comes out of the hot water taps, but it trickles, and it is not hot. The plumbing is all copper.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated, and if you could answer in lay terms, it would be best since neither my husband and I are "plumbing-challenged"... we're not complete amatuers, but boilers and plumbing stuff is not our best subject.

As I have explained in a earlier post, While a plumber will install appliances such as dishwashers, instant water heaters, water softeners etc. We do not service or repair them. Having said that my opinion is that you have mineral built up in the heater and it must be cleared out. In my area we had a manufactures rep that made service calls on instant water heaters. This doesn't mean that a sharp plumber couldn't track down the clog and clear it for you. This won't be a job for a homeowner. Contact the company that installed the unit and see what they say. Perhaps Applguy in Appliance or TK Russel in electrical could be of some help. Post your question over there. Good luck, Tom

Thanks for the response. We have had one person assess the situation, and the respone was "buy a new boiler", which is out of the question. We will take your advice and seek the services of a sharp and clever plumbing-heating type person. The company that installed the unit is no longer in business (it was family owned, and the children didn't share their father's love of all things heating.)

As you must know the tankless system will not operate or turn on when there is not enough water pressure, this is a safety system. If you have a filter or trap in your water lines there may be an issue.

If you have pressure in your cold water, then it is "something" within the lines or valves that are reducing pressure to the hot water inlet of the hotwater heater.

If you are at a loss, I would first before I called anyone, check to see for sure that all the valves are open and not partially closed,
