How do I install a Basement Shower Drain?
We just recently poured a new concrete floor down in our basement and left a pvc pipe that is about 4 inches tall sticking out of the concrete in place to where the basement shower drain will go. Our shower pan is 4 ft by 4ft and we are wondering how to install a basement shower drain over a concrete floor? :confused:

Basement shower installation
We are trying to install a shower pan in a basement we are finishing. The 2 inch pipe has been stubbed up through the floor and does not have a p trap in the concrete. The shower pan drain is against the floor just sitting on top of the floor. What do we do to get a p trap and a drain connection?

You will first install a flange type shower drain, (see image)on the floor. The shower pan will be placed over the bottom part of the flange and the stub-up will be cut to size and be primed and glued in. What material is your shower pan made of? And your other post said pipe had no ptrap underground. Please clarify what you can... Uncap the pipe and pour some water down the drain.. if water is visible after water drains away then you have a ptrap in place... MARK |

99% of all shower rough ins have a trap below the concrete. Pour a quart or two of water down that pipe and look with a flashlight. If you see standing water you are part of that 99%. Tell us what you see. We can also be of help installing the pan, did you buy it yet? I suggest Swanstone for easy installation and very good quality.
