    Bathtub rough-in plumbing
    Hello,

I will be roughing in a bathtub drain under a newly constructed, raised foundation. The joists and ghirders are already in place. I am not sure how to locate the tub and shower drains since I do not yet have the dimensions of these fixtures (in particular, the tub). Do I install the P-trap when roughing in, or is there another strategy for doing the rough-in in this case? I know where the vent line will be located, but only have a ball-park for the drain itself (especially for the tub). I looked at another construction site's rough-in plumbing, and think the drain line was just angled up to the general facinity and capped, w/o the P-trap installed; I believe it came off the sanitary tee, from which the drain line was connected.

Any tips/suggestions or references would be greatly appreciated. FYI, the code enforced where I am located is UPC 2000.

    Regards,

    Paul

Any place that sells you the tub should be able to supply you with rough in dimensions. Or simply go on line and find the tub you wish to purchase and get the rough in for the drain

If this is going to be a wood floor house and you will have access to the underside of the tub and the shower you can always turn your tee's in direction that they need to go and then you can finish the rough-in after you have the tub and shower in place.
If you will not be able to get under the house then you need the exact measurements of the tub and the show so that you can rough them before you set them.

Biuld you a box 1foot by 1 foot with the center 18 off back wall of where tub is going to be and on the same side as the drain and stub pipe over and caped off then pour slabcover box so during slab pour concert does not get in it then install p-trap where nessicessary during set -out
