Invisible Bugs Crawling on me ONLY when we are on the couch!
My boyfriend and I both have been experiencing the sensation of bugs crawling on our legs.
It started up again about 2 weeks or so.
It started slowly and gradually got worse. Neither of us had said anything to each other until 2 days ago when the feeling was so bad we each freaked out, thinking we were crazy. So in that moments we both realized we had both unknowingly been experiencing the sensation for the past 2 weeks.

The sensation is mainly at home while sitting on the couch.
Sometimes the sensation lingers for an hour or so.
It will feel like several bugs crawling at once, on the toes, feet, and lower legs. And maybe one here or there on the are or head.
Occasionally there will feel like a stinging "bite" sensation but rarely an actually bug bite can be found.
It basically feels like invisible mosquito's flying and crawling on the sking with an occasional mosquito bite feeling, without the actual "bite" effect.
    We both get it.
It seems to be worse in the evenings.
Changing rooms helps, although the sensation may still linger, but feeling like only a few bugs remain.
We are both sober, non drinking, non drug using 30's, normal.
Occasionally the feeling also lingers even outside of the apartment. But more for myself then him.

After talking and looking back we realized: The sensation was first noticed about a year ago. At the time we thought it was a blanket, so we got rid of it. The intense sensation went away for the most part after about 2 weeks. But we've both had occasional episodes that neither mentioned over the past year.

Well, its back, and this time worse than ever.

We can not find or see any actual bugs on our skin.

    Any thoughts!! Its really freaky!

I know there are actual skin conditions that can cause this, but with both of you experiencing it, that is highly unlikely.

What comes to my mind is scabies, bed bugs, or some other parasite. Has anyone been sleeping on that couch? Have either of you slept elsewhere, like at a hotel, recently? This is how bed bugs are spread, and there has been a recent increase in cases in the states lately, so I suppose that's a possibility.

Scabies are spread the same way - through touch, clothes and bedding.

Both are most active at night.. . So if you're spending time on the couch together in the evening, that seems to fit.

For the scabies, there are permethrin sprays you can get. High heat can also be used to combat the infestation. Same for bed bugs, I think.

Despite it feeling like bugs, without physical signs such as bodies or bites I would suggest you look into environmental causes. Static build-up can mimic the sensation of bugs crawling, as can some mold spores.

Bedbugs, fleas, and scabies mites can all be seen, and all leave irritations at the bite.

Hmm yeah we both have a laptop now, sitting on the couch each with the computer on our laps, maybe it is a weird static/magnet thing?

We'll try computer stands and see if that helps?

There are also fabric treatments to de-static the couch. I think one brand name is Static-gard.

    Static guard lol.
We are on a leather couch, and have wood floors. No rugs no carpet. So... the only thing I can think is the metal legs on the table or couch and the computer are creating a charge, and the body is a conduit.
We experimented today and when we both have a computer, with the A/C on, the sensation is worse!

But to note... the day time its usually mild if present. Then again we've showered putting moisture in the air so...

    Will keep updating!

    Thanks everyone for the feedback!

Well, I sure feel better, because I am going through the same thing here in AZ. But I have actually saw the bugs twice and killed them. But they are so small I used a magnifying glass to show my husband. Now any ideas what they could be?

Since you have found some, your situation is a little different. You need to identify what kind of bugs they are. The possibilities are many, from bedbugs to mites to fleas to beetles.

The best way to get a positive I.D. is to catch some with some transparent tape and affix them to a white notecard. You can then take the card to a professional for identification. You can find professionals at your local college Biology department or a large exterminator's office or (if you're in the States) the County Dept. of Agriculture office.

Once you know what you've got, getting rid of them is fairly straightforward.

First, a little internet etiquette lesson: If you type with the caps lock on, it indicates you're shouting. Very rude.

Second, your situation sounds medical rather than environmental. Have you seen a Doctor.

Third, since this is an answer site rather than a roundtable or chatroom, please ask any further questions as a new question. The answers are less confusing and more appropriate to your situation.

Fourth, to ensure the third point, I'm closing this thread.
