I have been a member of AA for 30 years. My 38 year old daughter just called me and told me she is starving and on the streets. My husband and I just gave her a place to stay and sent her off to detox again. She stayed for 2 mo. And running on the streets for a month. She has been on and off drugs for 14 years. I'm so tired. I told her I couldn't do this anymore. She is in a strange town and big city, and I am so scared. This is the first time I have completely turned her away. She would take everything we have and not care. She is on Meth or whatever she can get her hands on. I know how you feel with your Grandaughter. It is the hardest thing I have ever done. Even with my knowledge of substance abuse, I still am stupid when it comes to my Daughter. I have been crying all night. I am so afraid she will die. No one can tell you what to do with your Grandaughter or Daughter. My Daughter's kids are with the other Grandparents. I live to far away from them to care for them. If they were still with my Daughter, well, she can't take care of herself. I called Social Services about 5 years ago and they were taken away for 6 months. She got help. Now she is out there again. I have no answers. I need to take care of myself now. I am 67. Hope this helped. It helped me to share.

I need support for myself to not give in to my addicted Daughter. She has called from a big city and says she is starving and on the streets. It has been 14 years, on and off, she has been doing drugs. Lost both her kids. I told her I was done helping her. I am so scared for her. I need to stay strong and not back down. I have 30 years sober myself.
