    Rabbit with a shaved belly
So, in early November I had my female rabbit spayed. They shaved her belly to do the operation. But oddly, her fur hasn't grown back yet. Well, it has a bit from the bottom of her incision down, but not on her upper belly. I'm a little concerned. I don't know if it's because she is a rex or if something is wrong. We had our other female rabbit spayed 3 weeks ago, and her fur is pretty much complete grown back.

It does take a long time for pet fur to grown back, their hair doesn't continuously grow like a humans hair. Some spots will grow in at different rates, and just like humans animals hair will grow at different speeds as well.

Rabbits don't take well to operations, but they are necessary. I commend you for having your rabbit spayed.

Having said that, rabbits will lick and pick at the area, some more than others. I would bet that your rabbits hair is not growing back quickly because she's licking the area, and removing the hair.

Give it time. If you notice her licking a lot then putting a vet cone on her is probably a good idea, until her hair grows back and she's completely healed.

Again, I commend you for doing this. When she's healed she'll not only live longer, but she'll be a much better pet, all because of this operation.
