What should I eat on the atkins diet?
Every time I eat 25 pieces of sashmimi for dinner ($30) I will lose 1 pound but I can only eat it once because it's so expensive. So what do I do for breakfast and lunch? I need to reserve 10 grams of carbohydrates a day for either radishes or fiber supplements... as I hardly ever poop when I'm on the diet?

Why are you even on this diet? Unless you can maintain it, you will only gain whatever weight you lose back, and going up and down on the scale can be quite unhealthy for you. This is exactly why there are so many diets and diet books out there... people may lose weight while on them, but unless you make lifestyle changes, you won't have lasting results. It is literally a billion dollar business because everyone wants a quick fix.

Be sensible... pay a visit to your doctor first if you are grossly overweight, get the junk food out of your house, eat a well balanced diet, cut back on saturated fats... cut out trans fats, watch your intake of refined sugars and processed foods, transition away from "white" (bleached or enriched) and go for "brown" (100% whole wheat or 100% whole grain) in some of the foods you eat... flour, breads, rice, pasta, etc. (but go easy on these too... may be a healthier choice, but it doesn't mean fill your plate with them), eat all the fruits and veggies you like, have some protein and carbs throughout the day, try to eat sensible meals (watch portion sizes... most people eat at least two serving sizes, if not more, of a food at a meal), have a healthy snack between meals and before bedtime. If you can do it without going over the top, indulge a bit here and there on things you like, but keep it to a minimum.
Get outside, buy a bike, join a gym, take an exercise class, splurge on some equipment you will actually use at home, enlist the help and support of an exercise buddy, whatever, but get moving every single day... yes, every single day there should be some sort of movement going on!
Sure, it won't be easy, (some days it will probably be pure torture to not reach for the goodies!)... but it will be sustainable, it will lead to better health. If you slip up once in awhile, that's OK... just get back on track... don't let it be an excuse to give up. Before long, you will have developed new habits that will last a lifetime... and can actually improve and increase your life while you're at it! You can do this!

I did the South Beach Diet and was pleasantly happy with the results... because it became a lifestyle change, not just a "i want to lose weight" diet.

You should take that one-time-only $30 and go buy a cheap George Foreman Grill. On this grill you can grill meat, veggies, fruit, etc. and stay healthy. Its all about WHAT you eat, not how much you eat. If you can purge your body of those things that are bad in excess (i.e. flours, sugars, starches, refined sugar, fats), you'll be able to have them in moderation and lose weight/maintain weight loss.

Don't starve yourself, re-teach your body what to eat. That way, you will be healthy while you lose weight. Best of luck! :)

I would switch from Atkins to gluten-free/low-fat LIFESTYLE (never think of it as a diet! ). Atkins is very hight fat. You shouldn't avoid carbs they have a lot of nutritional value, just make sure you're choosing the right ones.. (brown rice, quinoa, multi-grain pasta.. etc.)

Educate yourself about being healthy rather than being thin. You will lose weight.

A good read is Skinny Bi*tch by Rory Freedman
