    How to connect a laptop with a CPU
    Hello,

    I have a laptop with Windows Vista OS and a CPU (with out monitor).
    Windows 2003 and SAP XI is installed in the hard disk which is there in the CPU.

    I am not interested to buy a monitor now. I would like to connect the CPU to my laptop.

    Could you suggest me, how can I access the hard disk with my laptop.

    Thanks,
    Jyothi.

    Hi Jyothi210

    To do what you want, the PC (The CPU is the processor inside the PC) has to be;
    1) switched on
    2) setup to be in the same workgroup (Network) as the laptop
    3) connected to the laptop with an ethernet (Cat-45) crossover cable

    So to do 2) you will need to borrow a monitor and do that.
    And subsequent to that after returning the monitor, you will have to be sure that the PC boots up correctly so that 1) is satisfied, since you won't have a monitor to see what it is displaying. But if it does boot up, and is on the same network as the laptop, then you have to set your laptop up to be on the same network.
    For 3) you will need to buy that cable, which is relatively cheap.

    OR

    You could buy a hard disk enclosure, take the hard disk out of the PC, put it in the enclosure which is making it an external hard disk, hook it up to the laptop with supplied USB cable, and away you go...
