How long will it take lowertab to get out of my system (bloodtest)
Im having a baby in 6 days. (c-section) I took 2 lowertab 10s today, don't have a script, they will most likely take a blood test. My doc knows that I was taking and told me to cut my dosage every week, my problem is I don't have a script anymore... I'm afraid I am in trouble. Yes I know I have had 9 months... and all that other stuff. Someone just help with some answers without giving me a hard time because I already know...

We DO take blood when having babies, but we don't routinely test for drugs and/or alcohol unless we suspect there is a problem.

If you have been taking it for the entire 9 months has your doctor assured you that you have not done any damage to your baby as this should NOT be taken during pregnancy.

Yes, I was actually taking a pain med called ultram, she said to stop them imeadiately because a baby in the womb has a natural hole in the heart. When he or she is born and takes the first breath it fixes naturally, ultram is supposed to reverse the process. My ob doc said that the hydrocodone has had no known effect. They just don't want to see people take them in the last 4-6 weeks because ofcorse we don't want baby to withdrawl. I have been very honest with my doc and she knows everything. She says that my baby weighs almost 8lbs or more, she is fully developed and everything is great.

I don't have an answer, only a question. What is lowertab?

Obviously it's a medication that is prescribed, but what's it for?

If your doctor is aware that you've been taking it, than there's really no need for a blood test. I'm not in the States, but where I live all medical info from your OBGYN and doctor is given to the hospital before you deliver so that they know what meds etc. you're on.

They would already know your medical history, wouldn't they?

It is a medicine prescribed for pain. I don't have a script for it. And if it is in my baby's bloodstream baby might not be able to come home with me... my doc knows but if I can't show a script with my name on it I'm screwed

Lortab silly Alty. It's a pain med. We take them off Lortab and put them on Tylenol #3 here.

Yes, the hospital would have records of her pregnancy history.

What the OP is afraid of, I am sure, is that taking a prescription medication WITHOUT a prescription is a felony. She could go to prison for this as could the person who supplied this to her.

To the OP. All babies have this "hole in the heart" before birth, it's called a foramen ovale.

Guess you are screwed because it might be out of your system, but it won't be out of the baby's. All the doc has to do is a meconium test to see EVERY medication you ingested since the day you got pregnant.

Is there any vitamins or anything I can do to help flush my system?

    Alty isn't a nurse silly J. ;) :p

I realize that addiction to pain meds is a very real concern, but I can't imagine it, not while pregnant, especially if you know it can harm the baby.

Yes, OP, I think that this is going to come out, and I can only hope that the damage to your unborn child is not extensive. I'm a bit concerned that you're more concerned about being caught than you are about your child.

I don't know what's going to happen, and I can tell you that even if there was a way to "flush your system" no one on this site will tell you how to beat the system. The fact is, maybe it's best if your child is somewhere else until you rid yourself of this addiction.

You're an addict. That's the cold hard truth. I know it's hard to hear, and I know that addiction is a disease. You need help, and so does your child.

Instead of trying to screw the system, work within it. Get the help you need so that in future you can get your child back, and you can be the mom I'm sure you want to be, instead of a drug addict.

Where there's a will there's a way. Find the will. You're child's future and yours depends on it.

I can only wish you the best of luck. I hope that you get the help you need so that you can raise your child.

You can flush your system all you want, but it will not flush the baby's system. The fetus within us is an entirely different being and the meconium (first poops) can be tested if bloodwork fails.

I have to agree with Alty in that your concern for your addiction is overshadowing your concern for your baby. It is a shame that the pull of the addiction is so strong that the addict cares nothing about their fetus but prefers to get their fix at any cost.

Maybe it's best if this baby is taken away from you until you are clean and sober. Maybe this is what you need.

To end, if there were a vitamin that would flush your system it would be against my beliefs to give you that information as I am more concerned about your child. And yes, I am an OB and nursery nurse. I take care of addicted babies quite frequently actually.

Stop being selfish and trying to find out what best for YOU, and start worrying about your unborn child. If you've been so damn honest with your doctor, then why don't you have a prescription?

I'd like to know what pain it is that you claim to have that's more important than your child?

I'm an addict in recovery, so I know the game. I know the demon. Don't B.S. people and act like a victim.

" How can I flush my system out and hide all traces of the damaging drug that I've so selfishly taken with total disregard for my fetus?" Should be your question.

I think that you purposely misspelled the drug LORTAB just to throw us off. Yes, you have "had 9 months and all that other stuff". All that other stuff??

I ask you why take chances with your unborn child? If you are old enough to get pregnant, then you are old enough to act responsibly.

Sorry, but don't lie to us and expect help. You're an addict. Go get the help you need. You'll get no help from me on this matter. However, I will help you get clean.

    God bless this child.
