    Drug test
    I recently took a hair follicle and my results came back positive for cocaine. I have been working in the refineries since 2006 and I've never did any drugs. Me staying drug free is my livelihood for me and my 4 kids. I know DISA standards to well to put myself insuch predicaments. I have no money for a substance abuse class and that's an insult to my character. What other steps can I take to get a retest?

    Explain your concern and ask for a retest. Any other false positives in the refinery?

    I have never failed any test ever in my whole 7 years of working on and off at the refineries so I'm puzzled. I'm inclined to think they are having a mix up due to the large number of applicants going to this turnaround. I am sure its over 3000 people going to Marathon because the wait at the drug lab was near an hour.

    I would use that as a means to request a retest. I worked in chem research for a number of years and we used to get false positives because of the other chemicals we breathed in or absorbed through the skin. Obviously this was way before OSHA.

    One thing you could do is get in contact with an Medical Review Officer (MRO). An MRO is a doctor trained to interpret drug test results and say why you got a false positive. First do you have a copy of the results? How high was the cocaine number? Who did the collection? Is it possible the collector mixed up the sample? If they have any of the hair left over you could request a DNA test to make sure it was your hair. I am a third party administrator for hair drug testing and I do personal hair drug tests all the time. It's not all that expensive.

    Thank u for your advice I left my info with a MRO and contacted the lab for my results.
