    What is heterogeneous liver?
I recently went to get a ultrasound of my liver but I was told I would not know the results in about 5-7 days. (Its been 2 days). I saw the radiologist document "heterogeneous liver". Can anybody explain? Thanks in Advance.

It means they found particles (?) in your liver. Other then that I can't tell you. Your liver has been compromised somewhat. Are you an alcoholic drinker, have you been exposed to Hep C somewhere ?

Too many questions, fouredwards, to give you an answer. You have to explain what has gone one before with your medical evaluation. Maybe then.

    I agree with Ms. Tick.

What was the reason you had to have the ultrasound? This may help us some.

Hello Tickle and thank you for your response. I had the ultrasound done because my doctor told me that he felt my liver to be enlarged. This was just a routine visit. I drink alcohol occasionally. Nothing excessive. The last time I had a alcholo beverage was 5 weeks ago. I have not been expose to Hep C (that I am aware of) Hep C does not run in my family. I guess I will just have to wait for the doctor to call and explain why? Im just very anxious to find out what's wrong.

Hep C does not run in families. It is not genetic. It is transmitted by sharing blood (needles), saliva (using someone else's toothbrush), etc.

Hi, Foure, there are just too many causes for an enlarged liver, and as you say, you only drink occasionally, we can rule out liver damage by alcohol addiction unless your liver has a very low tolerance for that substance. After all the liver is the filter for the body. And by the way, your liver is about the size of a football, the largest organ in the body, so you can imagine the trauma attending organs must go through if it is bigger then that. You must have been experiencing stomach pain, or some such discomfort.

Apologies for not being able to give you the information you seek. I believe only your doctor will be able to do that.
