Pharyngitis is the infection of the pharynx, that can also come along with tonsilitis or laryngitis. Overall, it's just the infection of the throat... thus a sore throat.

It could be viral or bacterial... usually, warm tea, gargling warm salt water, cough drops, will help alleviate the pain. Usually, it's nothing serious... and like I said, it's just a sore throat.

It's Pharyngitis, an infection or I believe inflammation of the pharynx (throat). When I had strep throat the Doctor called it Pharyngitis.

Coughing up blood... usually not a good sign. Could be due to the "raw-ness" of the throat when you were coughing. Did your doctor give you any meds?

Good. Then if you finish your course of antibiotics (finish them.. don't stop once you feel better), gargle with some warm salt water for comfort, you should be fine in no time.

I got diagnosed with Faringitis a kind of infection in the back of your throat, it's raw they prescribed me some antibiotics a few days of work and to take difflam to numb the back of your throat.. and to eat soft foods that won't irritate the throat. Good Luck , I feel terrible from it.. I don't wish it upon anyone!

I was told it could affect your vocal cords and make them inflamed or swollen (I can't remember the exact words he used) and make you lose your voice or it will become deeper/hoarse.
