Can you get an STD or bacterial infection from a vibrator?
I am going to the doctor tomorrow after one week of symptoms. I'm not sure if the vibrator has anything to do with it but it is niggling at the back of my mind. I need to know if you can get an STD from you vibrator or a bacterial infection if it's not cleaned after every time you use it? I hardly ever penetrate with it so I normally only clean it every other time I use it. Now I'm worried that I might have something and have given it to my husband because now he is having strange symptoms. But to begin at the beginning.

I am 5 months pregnant to start with. Last week my husband and I were having sex and I dried up completely. We kept going but afterwards I noticed a burning sensation and started to swell. By Tuesday it had gotten to where I was itchy, uncomfortable to sit down, very swollen around the and so I used neosporin to try and reduce the swelling, pain and itching. By Wednesday I notice this horrible smell and that I'm always 'wet' but it looks like I've got bits of toilet paper flaked in it and though I haven't had sex since that weekend, I smelled like I hadn't cleaned down there after sex. Well the swelling and redness went away so I thought it had passed. But my husband calls ( and shows me later) about an irritation that he is having on his penis. It was slightly red and looked to be peeling. But he played if off. That afternoon we had sex again and afterwards I was in some serious pain, not to mention that the swelling, now throbbing pain came back with the itching. Friday morning we coupled again and it hurt the entire time to were before he was even finished I was swelling from the inside ( it doesn't help that I was dry again). He thought I was tightening up on him.
Tonight he calls me to the bathroom where he shows me his penis again and there is a ring of red irritation on his foreskin, his penile head is very red but not swollen and he is still peeling.
Please, if you have any idea what this could be I'm all ears. I went to web md and though they didn't have a list for all my symptoms, the closest condition that matched almost all my symptoms was a yeast infection, but would that affect him? And would it cause such an odor?

You can't get an STD unless it was used by someone else with an STD. However a bacterial/ yeast or other infection is more than possible.

Did you know you can get special 'toy' wipes that keep it sterile wihtout using too harsh cleaning products which may cause prolems with themselves.

I am not a doctor so I can't diagnose you, but I'd go as soon as possible to get both of you treated (so one person doesn't re -infect the other).

I actually just got off the phone with my mother and she said the same thing ^_^;. My husband wanted to wait to make an appointment with my ob tomorrow but since we both need to be seen I'm insisting we go today. I'm actually on my way out the door to snag a babysitter right now...

A yeast infection can be shared between men and women. He needs to be treated as well otherwise he will just keep reinfecting you.
