Just presenting points - not beliefs:
1. Marriage is a religious institution. Civil union can be legalised by law but marriage should be approved by the church. 2. Social changes, gay marriage, often take a long time to reveal their effects on the populace. These effects could very well be negative. They may be positive in the ''everybody is equal and should have equal rights'' sense but they could have extreme reprecussions.
