    I am going to "undo" two of them tomorrow, hit the post a couple more times to maybe create a little more lift, then screw the two joists back together. I have to be careful though, I don't want to lift to the point where I screw up the hardwood floor.

    The hardwood floor doesn't creak or sqeauk at all. But when you walk on it, the draw handles on a credenza shake and so will the lamps on the end tables. It is very noticeable.

    I talked to a contractor who said plywood glued and screwed will be the best results.. just thought I'd toss that in... good luck
