    Going rate for finishing drywall
We live in NW Pennsylvania and have a small cape cod house (total 1200 sq ft.). We have had the second-floor walls and ceiling drywalled. How much should it cost to finish it so that it is in 'ready to paint' condition?

Rates vary and this could be done by a handyman. Why not ask the folks who hung your drywall or get 3 bids.

I just had 2 jobs done for $.14 a square foot surface area, taped, mudded(2X), power sanded, ready for paint. Roughly $200 walls and ceilings of a second floor bedroom, hall and stairwell.

Thanks for your response. It helps! At least now we can try to get some parameters for the cost for the job.

We have asked the man who hung it. His bid seemed high to us but had nothing to base it on. We have another bid coming within a few days. Thanks for your response. We used your suggestion.

3 bids are always best, I do that whenever I can. Good luck
