I called ICE to report an illegal immigrant, using their anonymous tip line. I now regret my decision. I was wondering if anyone knows if they really take these anonymous tips seriously or not? Does anyone know what percentage of these reports they actually investigate? The person I reported is not a felon and has had a clean record. Can someone help me out here? Also should I call back telling them I gave them the wrong info. Or just not worry about it. Thanks.

You don't need to do anything. When someone calls ICE, they check the record of that person to verify that information obtained is correct. Process also requires arrest warrant which must identify the person(s) of interest. If that person is not a felon.. not illegal alien, he/she will be fine.

You should learn from this mistake. If this is not about immigration, but other issue. What if you report on a young innocent individual, you may ruin his/her future and may end up being sued. Make sure you have concrete evidence to prove it... not just a hear say.
